Weaves from 100 years old Italian weaving textbook by Giudici now in ArahWeave

During the summer, we have inserted in ArahWeave another 1000 weaves, this time not from a collection of weaves, but from an Italian weaving textbook from 100 years ago. Oscarre Giudici, Tessuti di Lana e di Cotone, seconda edizione, Hoepli, Milano 1925. The inner moto of the book is ominous enough with military origin: “Acta non Verba”. Sound nobel in Latin, normally translated to something like “show yourself through your works and not words”, but in the times of early capitalism, we can also put it more bluntly like “shut up and work”, or a German “Maul halten un Arbeiten”. It is one of the best books on the topic, despite its age. If textile designers fresh from the school would study and understand just this book, they would have knowledge comparable to a designer with 15 years of experience.

If you have a valid support contract with Arahne, you will get the weaves next week. If not, ask for them. Thanks to Andrea Casoni from Tessitura TFC Casoni srl for the book.
